PRINCE2 Exams

Anyone wishing to become a PRINCE2 registered practitioner must pass both the Foundation and Practitioner exams. We offer these seperately as 3-day (Foundation) and 2-day (Practitioner conversion) courses; or together as a 5-day PRINCE2 Practitioner Training package.

The exams are taken during the course and the cost is included in the course fee.

PRINCE2 Foundation exam

Passing this exam shows the individual understands the principles of the methodology and how to implement these in a practical setting.

To pass the PRINCE2 Foundation training, delegates must be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and major content of all roles, the seven themes, the seven processes and the sub-processes, and the techniques
  • State the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a project
  • State the main purpose, and key contents, of the major management products
  • State which management products are input to, and output from, the seven processes

Exam format:

  • Multiple choice questions
  • 60 minutes length
  • 75 questions
  • 50% (35 marks out of 70) required to pass
  • 5 questions are trials and not counted in the score

PRINCE2 Practitioner exam

Passing this exam shows that the candidate can apply PRINCE2 to the running and managing of a non-complex project within an environment supporting PRINCE2. They need to demonstrate the competence needed for the Foundation qualification, and show that they can apply and tailor PRINCE2 to address the needs and problems of a given project scenario.

To pass the PRINCE2 Practitioner training, delegates must be able to:

  • Know or comment on detailed explainations of all processes, themes and principles, and worked examples of all PRINCE2 management products as they might be applied to address the particular circumstances of a given project scenario
  • Exhibit that they understand the reasons behind the processes, themes and principles of PRINCE2
  • Exhibit that they understand the relationships between processes, themes, principles and PRINCE2 management products and can apply this understanding
  • Exhibit their ability to the tailor PRINCE2 to different project environments

Exam format:

  • Multiple choice questions
  • 9 questions per paper, with 12 marks available per question
  • 2.5 hours allowed (no additional reading time)
  • 55% (59 marks out of 108) required to pass
  • Open-book examination (only the official PRINCE2 Manual is allowed)
