Project Management is a way of using the tools and knowledge needed to define, plan, organise, control, lead and close a project. Project Leadership then appears to be a division in project management, this is wrong.
Project leadership is the only thing that runs all the way through the project cycle. This makes it highly valuable and without it, the whole project would fall apart and fail. The efficiency of the project management all depends on how well the leadership is demonstrated. Lacking good leadership would make the other parts of the projects fall apart and the output would be below par.
There are many examples of projects which completely underachieved, even though they had well thought out project management. Project managers have to keep everyone above them happy, while project leaders need to keep everyone happy and ensure when things change or go wrong, they have the knowledge and the ability to change and keep the project on track.
